Barrenness is leading into strength and agility

Deb Peacock

While all you can see is a barren land around you, and the things you were relying on for progression are simply dying away, there is still good in your life. The Lord is here, standing in front of you with love in his eyes, just for you. He might be all that is left that is good in your life today. Don’t despise him for the lack that you see all around you, rejoice that there he is  - goodness stands right in front of you and despite all the loss, this goodness will never leave or depart from your life. Because of him there is always goodness in your life.

In this place of attention on him as the goodness in your life, you will become nimble. You will enter in a dependence on him and you will trust in him and his work in your life. You will be the clay in his potter hands, willing and available for him to bring something wonderful forth from you. The nimbleness in you will mean you are ready for quick movement in the future and you will be flexible and able to withstand great pressures without breaking or folding. You will move into being able to think and understand quickly and you will be very strong in the Lord.

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Saviour. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. Habakkuk 3:17-19
