God: Do your best and I’ll do the rest

Deb Peacock

There is incredible power when we partner with God. God says, you do your best and I’ll do the rest. God in his love and grace, wants to do incredible things in the world with you. He includes us. Sometimes we see what he has called us to and we feel the pressure, pressure to perform and do more and be more than we are. It is really stressful. God says though, you do your best and I’ll do the rest.

He says that whatever your best is, that is enough. When he called you to be involved, he knew what you had, he knew how good you were and he says that is enough, I cover the rest. Whatever the shortfall is for this thing to go well, he will cover it. So if you feel overwhelmed at the size of the task ahead the pressure is off - he knows what you have to bring and he says just bring that. That is your best and I will bring the rest.

In fact he also says I don’t care how much you’ve got, I just want the lot. So when the Lord is speaking to you about doing your best, that means to bring everything you have, nothing more and nothing less. What you have is enough because God called you forward with that alone. But he does want all of you. Everything that you have in you is actually from him and ultimately it is for him too. So bring all you have, that is your best and God will do the rest.

You don’t need to feel overwhelmed by pressure to perform and do more than you have but you can feel a bit overwhelmed with the awe of what the Lord is including you in on. He is calling you to take part in something wonderful and something big. It is so much bigger than you and it is magnificent and while he is doing most of what is required, he loves to include you and bring you into it. So you can shift the overwhelm from being about what you have to do and bring and achieve to being in awe of what the Lord is doing and that he is bringing you into being a part of it.

You do your best and he will do the rest. May peace and blessing be yours today.
