How do I hear on the important things?

Sometimes we can hear God speak on things that don’t seem to matter so much but on the things really close to our heart, or really pressing on us, we can’t hear his direction. There are two blockages I have found to hearing God speak on the important things.
YOU ARE IN CHARGE AND FEELING THE WEIGHT AND RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ISSUE
It feels like this situation is all on you, how this will go and the outcome depends on you. When we feel this way and then think this way we behave as though we are in charge of the situation and we have to work it out and make sure it gets sorted. There is significant pressure and weight in this and it blocks us from hearing God.
We are actually not in charge and we are not the one who holds the responsibility for the outcomes. We live by God and under God so we are to live with him in charge and we live according to his direction. He takes the weight and pressure of the outcome for us.
It doesn’t work well to speak to God as though we are the ones responsible and in charge because we are then speaking to him as though he is not in charge. We are speaking to him as though he is just there to come and help us, when and how we want him to. God though, will speak to us as though he holds that responsibility as though he is Lord and in charge. If we are not in agreement with this, we won’t be able to hear what he is saying.
YOU’RE AFRAID OF WHAT GOD WILL SAY
When emotions are big we can be led by them and they will dictate what solution we believe we must have to be ok. We will only want to hear this. Then we are afraid to listen to what God says because he might say something else. So then, you’re asking God for his word but also not wanting to hear it at the same time.
REMOVING THE BLOCKAGES
Come to the Father for care for your heart and give him the issue. Spend time in worship of him where he becomes God and Lord over all once again including the problem. Eventually you will come to the place where you remember he is Lord and what he says will be the best for you. What he says to do will be the best thing to do and you can trust him. Then you will be open to hearing him speak and hearing his direction.
Where are you sitting right now on those hard issues? Are you taking all the weight and responsibility as though you are in charge? Are you emotionally hurting and afraid of what God might tell you to do?
God is your Father and your Lord and Saviour so he can be trusted and you can release the weight of it over to him. Then he is in charge of it and you get to simply do what he tells you to do. You can know that what he tells you is the best for you.
The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works. Psalm 145:9
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honour come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. 1 Chronicles 29:11-12
