When you can’t see, can’t connect, and don’t know what to do, you need God’s perspective
Deb Peacock
You might feel like when you step back from your life and look at it from a distance by considering all the years of your life, that you feel lost and confused. You can pray for the Lord’s perspective. God loves this prayer and he will give us a piece of information about how he sees it. This is a wonderful experience. Unfortunately we assume then that we have it. We don’t realise this is step one of his renewal of our mind to see things rightly and truthfully. So stay with him over the days and weeks as he will continue to reveal another thing and another thing gradually revealing the whole picture to you until you are in his perspective of your life.
This is the same for when you consider your options going forward and how to consider your future. You might feel so confused about what to do. You need the Lord’s perspective for the Lord has clear vision. In this space we often receive the first revelation and can dismiss it because it seems lovely but non-specific and not practical for our decision. So we give up. But this is just step one, revelation one of many that he will be giving you to help you come into his perspective and see your life as he does. The renewal of the mind happens often step by step. Stay with the Lord seeking his perspective and receive each revelation he gives you, for he will keep revealing more and more as you are ready, leading you to a place ready for decisions and taking action.
But beyond all this with our lives, the Lord has another instruction for you to have right perspective to go well in this world. It is this: remember the big picture and keep your eye on the prize. The big picture is the story of the Bible - the whole story from beginning of the world being created in God’s love, the death of Jesus to save us and that he is coming again soon. The prize is Jesus himself. That one day we will get to be with Jesus.
Just as we need to pause when doing a lot of close up work with intense focus on detail and look out at the distance to help our eyes continue to function well and see well, we need to pause from the details of everyday life, remember the big picture of the world with God and see the prize, Jesus. This puts our stress and every day things into their right place and we regain perspective. This gives us courage and hope and keeps us on track with our mission here on earth.
Philippians 3:14
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life
Revelation 1:8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Revelation 22:20
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Blessings,
