You weren’t made to do it independently
You were made to do it in dependence
Deb Peacock
We are in a season where the Lord is teaching us what it means to be looked after by him. He cares for you deeply, intricately - he doesn’t just care about you, he wants to take care of you. Many have been living independently for a long time, taking care of themselves, refusing to acknowledge any need. It is as though being in need of care or support from others is a bad thing and is a sign of weakness. Others are afraid that being needy in some way means you drain others, you burden them and so you will lose them as loved ones in your life. The Lord though has endless resources of every good thing and he never runs dry, never runs out of his love and care, his kindness and compassion.
It is not weak to need him, you were designed as a human to need him. As people, we go well when we function in the way we were designed to function. This means we function well when we depend on God and live with him looking after us. This means he is there to debrief with after a stressful meeting, hold you close when suffering a loss, speak the truth to you when you are faltering to believe what is right, and just sit quietly with you as long as it takes for you to feel heard, be seen and know that someone is always present for you.
To engage with God in this way, all the barriers of feeling bad, guilty, embarrassed about having needs will have to go. Some are feeling it is ok to need him to a certain degree, maybe once a day or perhaps to sit with him about an issue one time but to have to keep talking to him about the same issue again and again is too much. You are never too much , too needy, too dependent, too sensitive, too weak for the Lord.
He is waiting for you to be vulnerable with him, share what is really going on however it comes out - ugly, messy, out of order, maybe not even making sense to you. He is wanting to take care of you - he wants to look after you. He will take you by the hand and lead you in the right direction. You won’t even need to worry about where you are going and how to get there if you hold his hand. He will lead every step forward taking you where you need to go and healing you along the way.
Blessings,
