Look for simple and sustainable

I believe the Lord is saying that he has a way for you to bring that change into your life. The change you know you need to make. He has a way for you to get that project started that you know you need to start. He has a way for you to do it that is actually sustainable. The Lord wants sustainability in what we are bringing into our lives and if we do it according to his ways, on his resources it will be sustainable. Keep an eye out for what is sustainable when you are bringing something new into your life.

One of the key features of sustainability will be that the process and how you do this, is to be very, very simple. Sometimes we're tricked into thinking that simple is not impressive and if it's not impressive it's not good enough and it won't work. That is not true. Often what seems very impressive is ineffective. It is the simple things, repeated often over a long period of time that are actually most effective.

A couple of years ago, I needed to put in place an exercise program to help with some health issues. I went to see a person to help me with that and the programme that I was given was well beyond what I was capable of at the time. It was complicated and it was overwhelming. I ended up in tears at the end of it. What did I do - I didn't do it ever, not even one time! But I did talk to someone else who suggested going to a different person for help. I went to that person and they peeled it right back to where I was up to. It was simple, it was achievable and I could manage it. I could make that change and bring it into my life and over a period of one year I was able to add in more steps and develop it further all the while the program was still very simple but very effective. My health improved a lot!

You have maybe tried to make changes for your health like this and perhaps you dived in really deeply and you've sustained it for a week and no longer. That's not the way that God has for you. Similarly, you may have been trying to get a project or initiative off the ground in a way that is complex which leads to procrastinating on even getting it started. The Lord has a simple way for you.

Seek the Lord for the simple strategy. You might have been blocked from hearing God because you're looking for something much more complicated than what is needed. He is speaking in the simple strategy for you and he has something that is really sustainable to bring effective change for you and for others.
