The shifting and sifting will not remove you, it will make you surefooted and reveal the rock
Deb Peacock
There is a lot of sifting and shifting going on right now. It feels like a swirl of emotion all around you and you don’t know which way to turn or look. It might have been going on for a long time, day after day and you are wondering ‘will it ever end?’. Hope is fading as it feels like there is nothing to hold on to. Then just as you find your footing another thing comes and you are almost knocked off your feet again.
While the battle rages on God will never leave you, he will never desert you, he will stay with you and be with you every step of the way through. You can be sure that the Lord as your rock will not be sifted out from you. You can cling on to him.
Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall (Psalm 55:22).
God is using some calamities that are at hand right now to sift out some things you’ve been clinging to that are not everlasting and not good for you, that will not be secure or trustworthy for the future. They are things that will betray your trust in the future. As you turn to his truth in his word and choose to hold his promises there will be a clearing out in your life, a sifting out of unsteady and unstable things that then mean you are steady on the rock. It is a bit like watching sand be washed away by the water as the tide runs out and the rocks are revealed.
So it’ll be for you: the sand is shifting and being sifted out from under you til a rock is revealed. Then you will find yourself standing on hard rock that is solid and then you will be able to stand tall and steady without having to continually move your feet to stop from sinking down and becoming stuck.
You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many live. Genesis 50:20
For you are my rock and my fortress; and for your name's sake you lead me and guide me. Psalm 31:3
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25
