When you don’t know the way, seek the sound of his voice. He is the way.
Deb Peacock
I feel like the Lord wants to ask you this question. And he wants an answer from you in this moment, he wants you to answer this question.
He says “Do you believe that I love you? Do you believe it? Because I do love you. I love you unswervingly, unwavering. I love you forever and I've loved you every day that's gone past till now and I'll keep loving you.”
Do you believe that he loves you? If it's a yes, say “thank you Lord, I love you too”.
Some of you are in this horrible space at the moment. It's black and it's filled with fear and trepidation and it's a stuck place. I believe that the Lord has been saying that this year, and very soon in fact, he is going to be breaking yokes. These are spaces of feeling trapped. These spaces are feeling stuck. These are chronic spaces.
Some of you feel like you've been beating your head against a brick wall, except it's not in the daylight, it's at night time where you can't see anything. You've been beating your head and crying out to the Lord and you just don't get why it is this way. The Lord says “I am the way”. And he asks you this question: “Do you believe that I am the way? Do you believe that I am your solution?”
It says in his word in John, “I am the way, the truth and the life”. He is that for you but part of the problem with not being able to find that solution that you're after, is that you’re seeking the Lord for what he would say, seeking for that answer. And when you hear what could be an answer, you think “that's not him, that's not it”. The Lord wants you to know, instead of seeking for the words for the solution and the strategy, seek the sound of his voice.
Think of a time when you have answered the phone but you didn’t know who was calling, but then you heard your best friend say hello. You knew straight away who it was. So, you responded so warmly because you knew who it was. You know your friend and you know that anything they say, it is really them saying it. The Lord wants that for you, that when he speaks, you know the sound of his voice so well. That when the solution comes, he could say ANYTHING that is so different to anything we've ever heard before but you know that it's of the Lord.
We are coming into a time where we need incredible faith. We need to be willing to take outlandish steps. We need to be willing to do outlandish things to see the solution and the Kingdom of the Lord here on earth. We need to be willing to step out in faith like Noah did. But we won't hear something that seems odd to us because we measured it against what we think the Lord should say. So instead, we are to seek the sound of his voice, our best friend.
What does the Lord sound like? The Lord sounds like the solution. He comes and he brings an answer to the problem. He doesn’t come with blame or condemnation for having the problem. He comes as the answer. He comes with love, kindness, compassion and grace. He speaks to you in a way that even though you’re hearing something difficult or confronting, you somehow feel strengthened and emboldened to make a change. He's going to do that for you. He's going to help you make a change.
You have a choice. You can say “I believe God that you are the way, and I believe that you have the way, and I'm going to do it your way”. You can draw near to the Lord, learning the sound of his voice and he will draw near to you. He will come and he will give you the way out.
When it all seems dark and you can’t hear yes and you can’t hear no. You can’t hear the Lord it is so dark. Know this, he wants blind obedience in that dark space. When you know him like the best friend, you trust him. You can hold his hand and not care where you're going. You don't even need to know where you're going because you're holding his hand, being led by him, the one who will lead you to goodness. And what happens is, he leads you through the door. He walks you through. And here you are, outside – free! In the land of the free, because you blindly followed him. Because you trusted him as the way.
So don't worry if you can't see ahead. Don't worry if you can't hear the word. Just learn the sound of his voice. Draw near to him and he will draw near to you.
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. James 4:8
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” John 14:6a
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8
