I’m stressed! What is this thing casting cares?
1 Peter 5:7
Deb Peacock
When we feel stressed we come to God asking him what to do… because we want to fix it and stop feeling this way. We want it over, yesterday. Sometimes God seems silent and we can’t understand why he wont help us fix it. God speaks often through silence and if we pay attention we can see he is demonstrating what really matters.
What really matters in this time, is you and your heart. God is the one who cares for you. He comes to sit with you, take care of you and your well being. You are a child of God and so you sit with him and let him take care of you and how the situation is hurting you, stressing you, burdening you. Just be with him. Just like a child might run to their parent when they are hurt, be held in embrace by the parent until they feel better and then off they run to play again; we go to the father when it’s hard, when it’s all too much and we just sit in his embrace, receive his care and it is his love and grace that heals us so we are ready to run the race again.
God wants to take care of you.
Then there is the weight of the issue, the relationship, the problem and this is what we care about. We want God’s help so we can fix it. But the verse points out we are to cast cares to him, not fix it. We are not the fixer. God is the one who takes care of things. So the struggle to get the answer from God might be coming from a wrong heart motive - that we will fix it, that we will be the fixer. And so God might be silent. He is the one who takes care of things for us. He knows the best way and he works it out. Yes, he will involve us often - it will be from a place of God is the one in charge who is taking care of this and he led me to take this action. With God in charge, the outcome is also submitted to him and the weight of that can rest on his shoulders. Our shoulders aren’t big enough.
God wants to take care of things for you.
Declarations for today:
I am a child of God.
God is taking care of me.
God is taking care of the issues.
Prayer:
Lord Thankyou that you are my Heavenly Father and I can come and sit in your embrace and be taken care of. I need your care. I ask you to take care of all of these things I have going on too. I hand them over to you and I hand over the outcome as well. I trust you to instruct me, give me wisdom on how to respond and what my actions should be. Amen
Cast your cares and anxiety on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
